This was my very first lesson to teach ever so I was really nervous but lesson went okay. The first part of the lesson was you have the students make name tags. Well that was a mess. We didn’t explain very well what we wanted to the students to do and we also forgot our example of the name plates we had already made. After that the students and us did a lot better. The students were very attentive to the lesson and the story that we read in class. Afterwards we talked to my mentor teacher and she said that everything went really well so that made me feel better about the whole situation.

Fun Brain
April 13, 2009I love this site for kids. I think that when I’m a teacher this is a site that I will use for my classroom. This might be a website where I would have my students play around on when they have extra time or as a reward. I might even use this as a group lesson in the computer lab or something. But there are a lot a different subjects that the students could learn on. I think this is even a great site for parents. They could have their children doing these lesson or subjects before they even get to kindergarten.

Education World
April 8, 2009I love this site. It’s so great for new or old teachers. This website has lesson plans and ideas for teaching. It also has articles from other teachers about school issues and integrating technology in the school. This site also has printable worksheets and fun things to give your students. It’s awesome!!! Check it out.

Week 8
March 12, 2009For class of March 9th, the website said we talked about videos. It looks like we talked about iMovies and Camcorders. iMovie is a program, like iTunes, were you can organize, edit and publish movie clips. I also looked at the NPR websites were you can listen to clips of speeches and/or clips of anything. It was really cool to get a glimpse of the past. Audible was also really cool because you could listen to books online. It’s a great teaching site. I also looked at Bodyworks, which I thought was hilarious but awesome all at the same time. Most people don’t talk about passing gas, and here was a whole website dedicated to writing songs about it but does it in a professions and anatomical manner. I thought it was so cute.

Week 5
March 12, 2009For class on February 18th, it looks like we did a lot of how to’s and demonstrations for our blogs. I looked at some of the products from the list and I thought they were really cool and great things for the classroom. For instance, I love SmartBoards, I think they are awesome for students because they are interactive and students can play with them and learn. I think that students learn best when they are interacting and participating in the class. And I think Google Earth is amazing. A teacher could do a ton of activities/lessons with this program. I also did the Multiple Intelligence survey from the activities page. I learning that I am a 4 in Body Movement and Nature. But I also got some really cool ideas for ways that I learn but also for ways that I will probably teach.

Week 3
March 12, 2009For class on February 2nd, there was an article in the activities called “The World is Flat.” I read this article and thought it was awesome. The author talks about how people all over the world have such great opportunities to learn about anything because of the technology that we have. The author also talks about how even if we know some technology, it won’t matter because, technology is ever changing. But those that will succeed are the ones who can adapt as quickly as possible.

Clickers
March 7, 2009Recently there was an article in the Washburn Review about the use of clickers in the college classrooms. The teachers that were interviewed gave some really great reviews of clickers. One teacher didn’t like the clickers but I felt like she wasn’t really giving them a chance. She said, “use ‘em or get rid of ‘em”. I didn’t think that was fair. Read the article and let me know what you think.

Website
March 2, 2009I found this website the other day and thought it was awesome for students of all ages. The grade that I was most interested in was the Pre-k and Kindergarten. There were a lot on interactive games and also a lot of books that students could listen too and follow along with. I will definitely be using this website when I get into a classroom. ENJOY!!
