Lesson Plan

Lesson Plan #1

Objective of Technology:

Kidspiration – students will use this technology to make their own web of how water works.

Clickers – students will use the clickers to have a quiz on the uses of water instead of having an oral discussion about it.

SmartBoard will be used to have the students place the words discussed in class to the “misuse and good use” columns of the SmartBoard.

Software and Hardware Needed:

Clickers and the software for the program

Kidspiration

SmartBoard and the software for the program

Skills Required:

Teachers: Will need to know how to use the program of the clickers and the SmartBoards.  Teacher will also need to know how to use kidspiration for the students to make their own web of water.

Students: Students will need to have a prior knowledge of the clickers and how to use them or a brief introduction to the clickers before using them.  The students will also need a lesson on using and navigating Kidspiration.

Reflection:

This lesson was a really good lesson to begin with but using the technology students are using student guided teaching.  The clickers were a simple adjustment to the lesson but they really help the student and the teacher become more familiar with water and how it works.  It also gives the teacher an idea of what the students already know.  Kidspiration is a great addition to the lesson because the students get to use their creativity and knowledge to make a web on how water works.  The SmartBoard was also a simple adjustment to the lesson.  It’s a very small amount of technology for this lesson but students then get to become more familiar with the technology and how it works but also they get to really interact with the lesson more by moving boxes of uses of technology to different columns labels misuse and good use.

Lesson Plan #2

Objective of Technology:

Internet – The internet will be used to help the students to research more in depth the seven countries that celebrate Christmas.

iMovie – will be used to have groups of students make their own movies/scripts telling a story about the seven countries that celebrate Christmas. Students will be encouraged to be creative but mostly to allow the viewer to really understand the holiday in different countries.

Google Earth – Students will use Google Earth to find the country that they are researching and to look at some landmarks in the country that relate to the holiday.

Software and Hardware Needed:

iMovies

Computers

Internet access

Camera

Skills Required:

Teachers: The teacher will need to know how to use Google Earth and iMovies.  It is important to also know how to use the camera and be able to plug in the camera into the computer and import those videos into iMovies so that the students can edit their work.

Students: Students will need to have a lesson on how to edit and navigate iMovies.  Students will also need some, even a small amount, of prior knowledge of Google Earth. The students will also need to know how to navigate the internet.

Reflection:

Having the students make their own movies for this lesson will really help them to understand the Christmas holiday in other countries.  Using Google Earth will help the students to see where they are researching and some of the national landmarks that go with the Christmas holiday.  I think that in this case the technology would really enhance the lesson.  I kind of had to change some of the techniques of the lesson but using these technologies the student are getting a better idea of what the holiday is all about and how it is different for other people in our world.
